WeatherBridge Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Data stored on your phone
- Saved places and the place you are viewing
- Settings, units, activity preferences and activity or vessel limit profiles
- Private fishing spots and their notes
- Weather assistant questions and answers, which are worked out on the phone
- Downloaded forecasts and saved weather for offline use
App data on the phone is excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer.
Data sent, and to whom
- Forecasts: the latitude and longitude of the place you view, or of points along a route you compare, are sent over HTTPS to Open-Meteo to download forecast and marine data.
- Place search: the text you type in place search is sent to the Open-Meteo Geocoding API.
- Like any internet request, these include your IP address and standard network information. WeatherBridge does not send an account, advertising ID or device identifier with them.
- Links to official warning services open in your browser; the app sends nothing to those sites.
Location
WeatherBridge asks for approximate location only when you tap "Use my location". It reads your position once to show the weather there. It does not track location in the background and does not keep a location history beyond the places you save.
Read aloud
Read aloud uses your phone's own text-to-speech engine. Which engine runs, and how it handles text, is set in your phone's settings.
Advertising and analytics
WeatherBridge shows no ads, does not use the advertising ID and does not use analytics or crash reporting.
Data sharing
We do not sell your data. The only data that leaves your phone is described under "Data sent" above.
Your choices and deleting data
- You can search for a place instead of using your location.
- Settings > Privacy > Delete all WeatherBridge data removes everything the app stored on your phone.
- Uninstalling the app also removes it.
Permissions
The app uses the internet to download forecasts, network state to tell you when a download would use a metered connection, and approximate location only when you ask for it. It does not request contacts, camera, microphone, SMS or storage permissions.
Children
WeatherBridge is a general audience app and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If the data the app sends changes, for example when a new data provider is added, this page and the in-app privacy section will be updated before that release.
